Building speakers into a slat resonator?

Do you think I can flush mount speakers inside an already built "corner" slat resonator and get close to the same effect as a closed softfit setup? Or at this point should I just build some stands and have the speakers free standing with some treatment against the front wall between the resonators and the CR window? I want to keep the look of the slat resonators because it matches the rest of the room. I have a pair of Mackie HR 824's.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! BEN
depends on the soffits and how they're angled etc. why not just put them on stands in front of the console?
Thanks for the quick response gullfo! Well... stands seem to be the easiest way. I am worried about the reflections from the back of the speakers though. They would almost be touching the wall due to their distance from the listening posittion; which I can't move due to limited space. The HR824s have a built in "acoustic space" switch to deal with this type of set-up... but testing it is an area I know nothing about. javascript:emoticon('') Kind of ironc now that the slats and panels are up. I have read quite a few posts regarding room testing but I do not know where to get the program/s that allows me to collect and compute the results data. Do you have any suggestions or links that could point me in the right direction. Also I just wanted to check to make sure my speaker height is right. Is it 48- 52 " to the center of the speaker? Thank you so much for the help! BEN
http://www.etfacoustic.com/ That's what a lot of folks use around here. Relatively easy to use. Windows only... Why not get some speaker stands and slap 'em up there and take a listen? -ashley
