Hi All, We are building a small overdub/mix room in our loft in Brooklyn. It will be roughly 350 sq. ft. in size. This is the first time either of us have taken on a project of this size and would appreciate any help from the posted pics. We have finished framing the floor using 2x4's and put down the first layer of plywood. The floor is floated on U-Boats from acousticalsurfaces.com. These puppies were alot cheaper than the Auralex equivalent. We insulated the floor using 3 inch thick/8 pound density and 1 inch thick/4 pound density Thermafiber Mineral Wool. We should have spaced the floor frame studs 2 ft. apart instead of 16" to alleviate the dreaded job of cutting this stuff. It took a day. It is much denser and a better go than standard insulation though. The stuff is thick as a mother. Live, learn and record! Next step is framing the walls and getting an electrican down to wire up the power.
