Hey people, this message was originally for john but I figure the more people reading, the faster I'll get a reply! Help!! Hi John. You may remember this studio design, if not, well it doesn't really matter! My question is: can a small Amp Room also double as a vocal booth? I am aware that vocal booths are pretty much acoustically dead rooms but I am unsure of how an amp would sound in one. Because of the close proximity between mic and speaker would it make any difference at all? I have attached the design of the studio we are building. If it can be done, what is the best way of altering the Amp Room to reach the desired effect? The Amp Room measures length:2000 x width:1190 x height:3400 We are at the brink of getting the construction of this project well and truly under way so your expertise and guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time John. Marc Russo P.S - This is an early picture of the design changes have been made but the amp room remains the same.

I'm guessing John saw a way to get a "free" isolation room in the design and thought the amp room would be a good use. 8) worst case you put the amp into one of the bigger rooms if you need room input in the recording... otherwise the small amp room is primarily for isolation purposes and using a close mic. that said, you could treat the room with reversible treatments to switch it from dead to live or something in between for different effects.
It's really just a sound lock that you could use to isolate a singer performing a guide vox while tracking. I'd use the main studio for real vocals ;) cheers john
