Hello to everybody! This is my very first post here but I'm a reader of this forum since a long long time! It's really an amazing place where to find EVERY kind of ideas and inspirations to build a studio! I hope you will be able to help me because I'm stuck in a strange situation..usually new studio projects are bound by too much close walls and low ceilings and so on. So the problem is to put every idea into that space. I have the opposite situation 'cause I got a quite big place and I'd like to move there my studio. I'll attach some pics anyway! Well, I hope that the metric measures won't be a problem for you^_^ The place where I can build it's so planned: Lenght: 12 mt about Width: 8 mt about The ceiling is like the outer roof because it's an industrial building in armed concrete. The place it's placed at the first floor (so no ground floor...) but under it there's just a supermarket quite noiseless. Back to the ceiling as you see in the pic the central part it's higher and the side heights are lower. The measures are these: the peak it's 4.68 mt about the sides are 3.50 about I have to build a recoding studio here...this is my task!:D Anyway I could enlarge a little the project where you can see the floor going on. Could you help me? I should have a quite large console to put in the control room like a Soundcraft 3200 and some PT equipment and a drums booth. About the budget...well I have not so much money but I have a lot of people who can help me to build everything. Anyway I could spend something between 25-30k euros that in dollars are...well I don't know^^ Thanks for ALL your help!!! ^_^ I forgot...There're no problems about the noise for close homes and so on! There's a main road in front of the building but of course it's near the ground floor more than to me.

thats a nice big space. make take a look at John's Oasis design and his large studio design at the SAE site. here's one idea without knowing all the requirements - maybe you can post the information requested in the "read me" stickie?

Thanks a lot for your reply! This layout it's really interesting!!! These are all the infos: The place is located near the Suisse borderline in Italy and as I told in the first post, it's an industrial building with no neighbors so no noise from outside...except two things: -a main road -a supermarket at the ground floor Of course the road is quite noisy but we're located at the first floor. I could be quite loud instead...I play mainly rock, hard rock and heavy metal so I'll need a good isolation between the booths and the control room...and outside of course eheh^_^ My goal it's quite simple...build a spacious and "sounding good" studio for my productions...'cause I'm a sound technician but also musician/producer. Back to noise, I have a good friend who own a sound measuration company, they measure sounds and noises to certificate levels and stuff like that so he could help me with the noise measures and so on. About the building, there are eight pillars 40cm x 50cm and four bows (I don't know how to call them otherwise...eheh). The structure is made by concrete without any detail. On two sides there're windows as oyou will see in the quite accurate model I created with sketchup 6. I have to place my studio in the front side part of it. I marked it with the red colour. The dimensions are: 12 mt width 8 mt lenght The heights are these: The peak of the ceiling it's 4.30 mt while the sides are 3.50 mt. Under the bows, there're 3 mt. The rest of the building is square or rectangular so i think there're no problem to shape it as you want..:) The floor won't be full floating but there will be just a special gummy carpet to isolate as much as we can. The attachment it's a quite accurate model of that. I got the precise measures this afternoon! 8) About the budget as I told I have not so much money but anyway there's something eheh Also I have the chance to have a lot of help to build the structures. Anyway my budget could be around 25k and 35k euros. I hope these infos are useful^^ Anyway THANKS a LOT for EVERY help!!!:))

Some more details: -the mixing desk should be a Soundcraft 3200 but I don't know its measures so it's quite hard to define the shape of the control room. Anyway I'm not a designer but with Sketchup I prepared some draws to show you. Can you tell me you opinion about them? This is the first one called Studio4. Let me know what do you think about it!

what is the .kmz file?
Glenn, I think it's the ext. for Google Earth? Looks like another Sketchup export tool.
maybe re-post it with the sketchup file? i don't have an way to import it into sketchup pro...
Opsss...sorry! The file it's too big...588 Kb..how can I reduce it?
remove materials and complex components and then use window -> model info -> statistics -> purge unused. or zip it.
Thanks Glenn! Here you're!:)
