Hello all ! i made a search and could'nt find answer to my question. Does anybody know the technique used to glue together multiple glass panes in order to make splayed-angled windows between CR and Live room, like you see everywhere on the internet on pictures of prestigious recording studios ? Do you need to have angled ends between the panes ? Do you use the same glue used for aquariums ? (transparent silicone) If someone could explain me i would be very grateful Philippe, Paris
Hai Philippe, Acoustically you don't have to angle the 2 panes of glass. Visually it'll be an improvement on mirroring issues. Why glue? Visit your local glass dealer and ask for laminated glass (which is actually 2 panes "glued" together already). The thicker the better. Don't make it your weakspot in the wall. Glass is about 3 times as heavy as gypsum, that'll help you calculate the minimum needed width.
Ro sorry for not having been clear enough, english is not my mother tongue! By splayed angles and panes (in the opposite direction of the traditionnal way) i am talking about those large protruding window systems you can see in BIG studios, some of them going from ceiling to floor. I was asking myself if this is done the same way as the huge aquariums in the marine exhibits. Concerning the "normal" way for the windows, i have already all the necessary infos Thank you for answering Philippe, Paris
Ah, sorry for misunderstanding. I now see your point. Again I'd ask yer local dealer. My guess is silicon kit (for sealing off). I dont; think you'd really glue the perimeters. But I'm no expert on that....

Philippe, yes the corners have to be mitered - and it is a clear silcone that's used for the corner seals. Sincerely, Rod
