so ive checked as many threads and other websites as i possibly could trying to get an idea of what i want to do, and ive read alot of good ideas and picked up some knowledge.. I was just really wondering, if anybody had the spare time, if they could help me out here..
so we moved our set up downstairs and its hardwood on top of concrete, with a concrete basement below. We record with a condensor mic onto a pc. The hardwood obviously makes the echo in the room horrible, and just for the neighbours sake too, i plan on building a small iso booth in the corner of the room.
some questions i have are..
do i need a floating floor.. since there is hardwood floors.. i did read that you dont need a floating floor on concrete.. so thats why i wonder..
i also want to know if its a better idea to build 4 complete walls, or 3 with a door, whatever... or just 2 and use the existing 2 walls? i figure for the acousitcs sake i would want to build it all and not use the existing walls..
i was wondering the ideal dimensions for a small booth.. im aware that certain dimensions can make for bad acoustics..
i was thinking of building it like 8ft high.. and the walls would be about 4ft wide..
does that make sense?
forgive my horrible construction skills.. thank god i have help for this project..
any help will be appreciated
and maybe just a list of basic materials..
gypsum sheet ,timber frame, double plywood sheets for a floating floor? insolated w/ rockwool?... i read that on another site...
it would be awesome if there was a "Iso Booth For Dummies" Book or thread lol

this is the SHIT!
Nice response, thanks. Welcome to the forum - I don't doubt your stay here will be brief. As far as reading the link, you must have missed this part.... This means - No location, no answer. No attempt at providing room details, no answer. (If you try, and I need more, I'll ask.) The effort you put into your question(s), I will put into my answers. I'm sorry it has come to this, but it has. Bottom line is this - if you are willing to put in the effort, so am I. You want to build an iso booth getting advice from guys who are usually paid a tonne of money for it out in the real world (myself not being one of them) and you're not only abusive but can't follow a simple instruction. Good luck Champ.lol fuck off, yeah i read that and i still posted this, whats the matter with that?
lol  ... all i can say :lol:lol fuck off, yeah i read that and i still posted this, whats the matter with that?
MFPNOX,
If you can tone down a bit and follow the, few, rules we have here then we'll be glad to help you out. Otherwise you'll prolly get a ban.
In the meantime, get yourself a tape measure :)
The thing that really annoys me about Americans and cussing is that the lot of them have chosen to not honor the fact that we are "visitors" here and at many music related forums. If being a visitor doesn't make you mind your tongue, what will?
What will indeed.
Agreed with everything you said except the "Americans" part. It doesn't matter if you are from Mars, it all sucks, and I am not sure that Americans cuss any more than anyone else. I hang out on some UK-based forums, and I see the same thing there from UK colleagues. I would have to say it is more a "young immature thing" than an "American thing". A bunch of punks is what it is, and maybe because there are more Americans than British folk, it just *seems* like it is an American thing. You can also tell the immaturity thing by the lack of capitalization and punctuation and the *excessive* use of "lol".The thing that really annoys me about Americans and cussing is that the lot of them have chosen to not honor the fact that we are "visitors" here and at many music related forums. Reading above made me realise something about myself. When speaking out aloud I swear like there's no tomorrow (hey, it's my only sin) but when typing things into a forum like this then my swearing disappears....does that mean what I'm writing is not a true representation of who I am or is it just because it (the profanity) really is unneccessary?
Maybe I need to go grab some lunch and stop thinking so much.....
I agree with ya 100% DH. My concern with Americans is because I am one. I didn't single them out:) For me, and I can cuss in three different timezones, cussing tells me that I do not even rate respect, from the cussor. To this person, my opinion is that as little as my opinion matters to them, concern for me as a person matters less. That's what I get when a conversation starts out in this fashion. And it is a bit of an embarrishment to me as well. Disagree...sure we can all do that at one point or the other. But cussing should not be misconstrued with punctuation:) You and I are one the same page on this and thats a positive!Agreed with everything you said except the "Americans" part.
