very cool. i like the idea of reducing the number of framing members needed to support it in either a wall or ceiling... it would be great to get some information on how well it performs below 100hz since it looks to be only about 1.1lb/sq ft in density.
Hmm, would be great in my ceiling.
Glenn - I'm going to try to contact them today - so I'll see what I can find out.

i wonder if they use it in the IMAX theaters by me or not... if they have a list of projects in the Eastern US it would be nice to know...
Our systems are proven systems that are currently being used by * Imax Theatres in both Australia and New Zealand, * Central City Studios, * Warner Bros. Sound Studios, * Majestic Cinemas in USA.
IMAX Theatres The Imax Theatres have created the ‘ultimate movie experience’ using the most exciting film format in the world. With their crystal clear images and digital surround sound, it is no wonder they have very strict performance guidelines when installing acoustic wall and ceiling systems. Protecting the sensitive internal cinema environment from external noise sources was critical for a successful Imax project outcome. Durra Panel was chosen by Imax over other wall and ceiling products due to its high level of acoustic performance. The Durra Panel was supplied to site with a pre-finished black Soundsorb coating for internal noise reverberation control, a single Durra Panel solution to a complex acoustic performance requirement. Durra cinema wall and ceiling systems are fast and simple to install compared to multi layer plasterboard alternatives. Project Features: - High performance reverberation and sound transmission control. - High thermal performance of the Durra Roof/Ceiling and Wall System reduces cinema running costs. - Low maintenance costs; Durra acoustic wall panels deliver a high degree of impact resistance combined with sound isolation and reverberation control. - An innovative, proven building solution replacing multiple layers of plasterboard. - An economical solution that is environmentally safe
