Hi guys, I wanted to see if this simple design would work for my small control room. Please excuse the scale accuracy and the drawing itself. I don't have anything too fancy in terms of design software.

I also have the option on using inside out walls for this space but am wondering if the angled slot resonators would be better. Also I plan to put a cloud directly over the monitoring space. Ceiling height = 8' and the Entry door=3' wide. How much treatment does a small room like this need? I am in the design phase so any and all feedback is welcome. Thanks again guys. BEN
Hi there. Too late at night for me to be up for converting feet to meters, but here's one john did for me, which is the principle of the design I'm actually working off for my build. Gareth

Hey Gareth, thanks for the quick reply. That looks pretty similar to what I was thinking in my head. Do you think it would be OK if I used the angled corners as storage cabinets w/absorption material on the face?... or do I need to use them strictly as bass traps? I am kind of limited on space. We still have to fit some kind of really small office desk to hold our IMAC (business computer) and printer. This control room has to be our little office too due to the fact that this is the only space that is not a rehearsal studio or tracking room. I guess I should have mentioned that in my original post. Sorry guys!
Aloha,

because you don't want rear reflections to interfere it is better to start with a longer front to back dimension than the side to side dimension. John Sayers SAE website http://www.saecollege.de/reference_material/index.html

You could build the walls left/right of mix position as inside-out walls/slat resonators.
Also I plan to put a cloud directly over the monitoring space. Ceiling height = 8' and the Entry door=3' wide.
Yes, that would be a good idea, if not two (or more.)
How much treatment does a small room like this need?
While every room regardless of size needs treatment, its been stated here on the forum that the smaller the room, the more treatment it requires. Typically in rooms this size you would need - corner bass traps, angled slat walls left/right of mix position, front wall absorber, rear wall absorber, ceiling absorber (cloud/s). Hope this helps, Aloha 8)
