I've searched the web and can't seem to find this item. It is a door hinge that raises the door as it opens and uses the weight of the door to shut its self. If anyone has a link for this product it would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Door Hinges

if you're trying to create a self-closing door, a door closure mechanism is better as you can regulate the speed (which on a heavy door will be much better than having it potentally slam shut on your arm or foot...)
I already have door closers for speed control, but since I have no latching mechanism the door seals keep the door from closing really really tight. This is way I'd like to get those hinges to use the weight of these 200lb doors to create a tighter seal.
I do not have that link, but I do have something that may be more better in that the hinge will be less likely to deteriorate over time from the punishment . A self closing hinge, used to support fire rated (heavy) doors. Get all three, you'll never know how you lived without them. not sure they make self-closing hinges for heavy doors except for spring loaded ones - the lifting kind is mostly gates, cabinets etc. but then again someone somewhere probably does... i would have thought the door closer could be adjusted to pull/push the door shut?
gulfo, they are called a cam-lift hinge - and they are used by many manufacturers of sound doors...... but you should STILL have some sort of latch. Zero makes a cam lift - here's a spec on it - this from Acoustical Solutions http://www.acousticalsolutions.com/prod ... -specs.pdf here'sone from BROOKFIELD INDUSTRIES: http://www.brookfieldindustries.com/liftpage.htm Rodnot sure they make self-closing hinges for heavy doors except for spring loaded ones - the lifting kind is mostly gates, cabinets etc. but then again someone somewhere probably does... i would have thought the door closer could be adjusted to pull/push the door shut?
thanks Rod!
Cam lift, that's it. I knew it existed, i just could not find it. Thanks a million!
