HI, MY NAME IS "WILL" AND I HAVE A SPACE IN MY BASEMENT THAT I'VE RENOVATED TO USE AS A RECORDING STUDIO SPACE. THE TOTAL ROOM SPACE IS 11' X 15'. BOTH THE CONTROL AREA AND THE BOOTH ARE SHARED IN THE SPACE. THE CEILINGS ARE 7'6'' IN HEIGHT, AND THE FLOOR IS CARPET OVER CEMENT. THE VOCAL BOOTH IS 6' 5" X 4'11" X 7'6" . AND I HAVE AN OPENING FOR A WINDOW 30"X 48". THE FLOORS ARE HARD WOOD OVER CEMENT. I WAS WANTING TO KNOW WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST WAY TO ARRANGE MY EQUIPMENT IN THIS SPACE. AND I'M ALSO IN NEED OF IDEAS OF WHERE AND WHAT ACOUSTICAL TREATMENTS TO INSTALL AS WELL. ANY HELP THAT COULD BE PROVIDED WOULD BE GREAT! I'VE ALSO ATTACHED SOME PICS OF MY SPACE AND THE WAY IT IS SET UP NOW. THANKS!!!!
though this may not help I have to post this...

How big its your window? and how far from the floor did you put it?
sit with the longer room length to your front and back. corner absorbers, side, rear, and clouds. maybe add another door and you could potentially use the short hall for an amp booth... dunno...

Wow !!! That might just work! Is the extra door a must? And what size panels do you think I should use? Looks like you might have eight 3 or 4 inch panels and one 2 inch in the control room. Not including the clouds. Correct? And is it true that because of the size of my Vocal booth that I need it as dead as possible? And since my last post I've reframed my window opening to allow me to slant the glass on both sides. Pictures soon to come. I've also thought about using mineral fiber to make panels to cover all of the walls in the vocal booth. Might this be a good idea? Thanks again for your help and and I'll post pics of the changes you've spoke of soon.

thats looking great. no, the extra door was just in case you wanted to cheat and maybe get an extra booth out it... :-) yeah, i'd use 4" in the corners of things and 2" to cut reflections where possible including the overhead cloud.
Thanks!! I'll be taking some of your advice. And will post more pics as I make changes.
make sure you put silica crystals in the space between the windows else they will fog up if there is differing temps on either side. Silica crystals are those things you get in a little cloth bag when you buy a new camera etc. it absorbs any moisture trapped between the glass panes. cheers john
Thanks! I didn't know about that. I'll be sure to buy a new pair of shoes and use the silica crystals in the box.
Our chemists have them, I think you call them drug stores - they add them to prescription bottles sometimes.
Yes - I bought a tin of them from my local chemist.
Thanks Again
