Hi, i've just entered my new house with a basement where i'm
going to build a studio, but now first working on the livingroom to
keep my wife happy ;)
The livingroom sounds very hollow, beause the floor is of stone and
no curtains. Maybe i can put a sound absorber pannel somewhere.
I have to make some modifications to an existing lowered part of the seiling.
Maybe i can make that modification into a sound absorber to make the
room sound better.
Or is that place not a good one?
I want to make some wooden studs and put perforated pannels to it. Behind the perforated pannels some rockwool.
Is that an good idea? Like a helmholtz filter?
Can somebody give me advice before i make something that does not works....
thanks,
Jeroen

you could just wrap up some mineral wool or 703 insulation in cloth and tuck it in that space. it will help a little bit but it would be helpful if you had a floor plan or photo of your room.... you probably want to put some absorbers on the corners, walls, and ceiling to create a balanced and diffusive environment. not too much though or it becomes a dead space.
You can make a couple of 2" think ones with a wood frame of choice and go to the fabrice store and pick a pretty pattern or landscape pattern and hang it like a picture.
It would pull double duty and no one would be the wiser.
The first is my construction. As you can see it could easly fit in my living room. The second is a friend of mines old studio if you look on the wall his has a nice pattern on it to fit the decor.
