What's up everyone! It's been a while since I've been on this forum......but you guys have all the answers!
Quick question:
1.Where or who is a good supplier or manufacturor of the stuff you make the floating floor out of? I'm talking about the cushion stuff that goes under the floor joist!
2. Are the any alternatives??
I've been building my studio from the ground up....all by myself! Well minus having a few friends helping me to lift heavy stuff! I have never built anything bigger than a dog house until now!
Working 35ft off the ground has been my biggest challenge!
All of my inspections have been approved to date! I'm in North Carolina
I owe you guys and the DIY network for inspiring me to do the un-thinkable! Yes, I did plenty of homework and research before I started! :D So PLEASE help me locate a supplier for the floating floor!
I'll probably be coming back to this forum daily as I start to put the finishing touches on my studio!
Thanks in advance!
~Robert~

(((Help buying material for floating floor!)))

Hallo there Robert...
I think, first of all, you should consider your sound isollation needs and find out if floating the floor is right for you(right Keith? :D ) this is a good place to start:

However, i can tell you that if you decide that floating the floor is the thing to do then you should be very carefull on what you'll do....floating floors are really complicated constructions and doing more damage than good with a wrong aproach is very possible. Floating floors are supposed to be a MASS - SPRING -MASS system, so proper calculations should be made.
There is tons of information on this subject here and at the studiotips forum.
Plus on the studiotips forum you should take a look at Paul Woodblock's studio diary, probably the best "floating floor DIY guide" on the net.
Finally here's a thread i started regarding floating floors and MSM calculation (i'm lost in the floating floor
   .....i'm a floating floor freak :D :D )

There you can find very helpfull posts by the true experts and masters of the subject mr. Eric Desart and mr. Rod Gervais.......
Actually, the first thing you should do is buy Rod Gervais book "Build it like the pros" which is probably one of the best recources on home(and not only) studio construction.
Hope i'm helping

I'm for sure I'll need a floating floor......cause well the floor is floating! In other words....I did all of my homework except one major lesson! I have a two-story structure...and you guessed it...the studio is on the upper level! It's a done deal now, so I'll work around it until I add onto the structure and add a concrete slab. :x
Right now my concern is the vocal isolation boothes I'm building. I want to record vocals as perfect as possible! I won't be putting mic's on live acoustic instruments (not in the near future). I don't plan to crank the music up 200 dB in the control while recording either! I just want good vocals! I have 10ft walls from floor to the ceiling also. I know I've created a speaker box with the floor under me, but like I said....I plan to add on later and do something else with the current space.....like maybe a guest bedroom for out-of-towners or a Studio-B.
For now....where can I get the "Elastomer" or anything that will serve the purpose????
Thanks in advance!!!!!
