It's very difficult to say without testing it in a lab. Look at this (another diffusor): It works very well but if you vary or broke a single bucket you totally destroy its diffusion ability. Yours is not based on complex maths but it was just an example on what difficult it is, there are a lot phases and frequency issues when diffusing.
