Just a quick question:
Rod's book illustrates beautifully the effect of different wall construction and effects on STC ratings. The examples include insulation. What type of insulation is used here? (EG page 54, 55).
(I'm looking through the book and index but can't find the rating of the insulation).
Insulation type in Rod's book?

i think its just regular pink fiber glass insulation - R11/R13

I believe those tests were with R11 fiberglass insulation. Hoever - it isn't relevant - doesn't matter one bit - seeing as they all had the same insulation - the only variable to change ws the drywall location - and thus this is the only thing that could have affected the outcome.

Yes its a fantastic illustration, Rod!
I just didn't know if I'd missed somewhere in the book the recommendation for actual insulation type.
The illustration itself sums up on just one page possibly the most important lesson in constructing walls for sound control. And with standard construction materials also, can save folks tons of time in research and headache.
