I am about to put the slats on my vocal booth and wondered if anyone had any thoughs on using Vertical slats. I have made up 5 boxes 240cm high 60cm wide with a 6 degree angle(10cm at short side, 16cm at long side) and though of doing 1 box with 10cm slats, 2 with 7.5 cm slats and 2 with 5 cm slats and just varying the spacing for example i would only put 4 10cm slats on that box and have spacing of maybe 7cm,6cm,5cm,4cm. I though doing the slats this way may help to prevent the room being either to Live or to dead and should help me get a pretty tight vocal. I have attached a very rough drawing.
Any suggestions, comments much appreciated
Cheers
Alan

vertical slats can work just fine. you can add dividers to the cavities to make each side more efficient and tuned. when building corners, take advantage of the mode strength in corners to build that part the deepest. it will also take some of the right-angle out of the corner... alternate the slats to cover lows and mid with some attention to diffusing/absorbing highs.
