Lighting without windows?

Ok, so I'm finally done with my shed/studio. Everything is inspected and working great. However, I can't seem to get a homey feeling when there are no windows. I can't even spend more than an hour in there without taking a break, as I feel like I'm locked in a box all the time. Right now I have track lights in, and they just don't provide enough light. So I'm considering new lights. Also, I think I may have went with the wrong paint color. It's a medium dark red, about the color of blood. I'm thinking this is too dark of a color for such a small room (14x20). Any ideas on how to get it feeling like home, even without windows?
Put a couch in it! And then find a picture that looks like it is a view from a window and hang it up where you most need "sunshine." Dark colors in small places just never seem to do well. Neutral or light colors work well especially in an enclosed environment...but you may not dig neutral or light colors 8) But they are more better, redrum, Brien
Aloha, Hey, long time no see/read/hear, Andy! Glad to read that you're up and running, and everything (except that homey feeling) is online. Here are a couple of thoughts for you: - do consider a paint job - especially a color that feels "homey" to you. There are studies out that cover the psychological effects of color and mood. - Check out HGTV, home design articles, websites & magazines to see what appeals to your tastes. - lighting plays an important part of creating that homey feeling. Direct light glaring down on you may feel more like an interrogation rather than a creative venue. Check out some indirect lighting options, lamps, etc. Hope this helps, Aloha 8)
You can install a solar tube light in the room. THis is what i am doing. My solution to keep the isolation is to put a temporary cover over the light when i am playing my drums. Anytime else, i take off the cover and get tons of natural light. Also i put the tube portion of the light assembly that runs through the attic wrapped in thick acoustic fiberglass batting and surrounded by a box of mdf. No sound escapes from here. Just and idea! Otherwise look into a wall mural lifesize graphic poster of any type of natural daylight scenery...lots of cool ideas for that.
