OK folks! I am making this a separate post so that it won't get buried in my stdio build post. I need to order my glass this week for my CR windows, and I want to make sure that I understand how to measure it correctly! Once the window is framed in, I can easily measure the dimensions of the opening. That is a no-brainer. But since the panes will be angled, I now need to figure the angle and use the Pythagorean theorem (a^2 + b^2 = c^2) for the triangle that is formed (with the glass being the hypotenuse), is that correct? OK, now what about the neoprene shims that Rod talks about in his book? I am assuming that I need to account for those as well, right? Am I shimming at the top *and* bottom, or just the bottom? Please help, this is an expensive step, and I want to make sure that I do it right. Thanks!

That's right - it's a no brainer.........

Now why do you want to try to complicate things? measure the opening you have oince your inner stops are installed.............

Just the bottom - make the height (the measurement) minus 3/4" 0 and use 1/4" shims - make the width minus 1/2". Just make durned sure yuor opening is square - because the glass will be........ Rod

some people actually make the glass pane out of plywood to make sure it fits exactly - then take the plywood to the glazier and match the size.

Haha!!! ROFL!!! That was the funniest thing I have read in a long time!!! You are SO RIGHT!!! HAHA!!! I am still dying! That is just like me to make a mountain out of a molehill. It seems so easy now that you point out the obvious! Thanks Rod, I needed that! I am pretty stressed out at the moment! @John: Great idea about the plywood. Thanks!
