hello, all, fist time post here.
I've been reading on this forum for a few weeks now.
I'm about to start designing my room, I'm gathering information before asking things thats already been answered.
One thing i need to know though.
i plan to soffit mount my ADAM P22a's because of space constraints and the (probably) most effective use of space.
By soffit mounting the monitors i can make the front of the room reflective, and therefore put the entrance to a vox booth between them and use some glass in it.
because of the unique design of the adams its not quite possible to mount them exactly flush with the baffle. how does this affect the whole " infinite baffle" principle and does it affect the sound of the monitors in a negative way?
i found a drawing(see attachment) that gives a solution for the adams, but it may not be what i want. is there a problem with mounting them at a 90dregee angle and let the front of the cabinet stick out a bit?
it is generally a good idea to flush mount them?
anyone did this before with the P22a's?
i hope some of you knowledgable people can shed some light on this.
thanks!
Jaye
soffit mounting ADAM P22a monitors

it may be some monitors are not really meant to be soffit mounted... the possible side effect of having the front stick out (further than shown) is you now start to get into the problem you're trying to solve by soffit mounting - where the speaker boundary interference and reflections (difractions) cause the response to change...

johnthanks,
John, i get the idea of what was done in the first picture, how would that work on the angled areas of the speaker cabinet? the front baffle needs to be quite thick to keep it from resonating, isn't it?, it would mean that the sheet must be thinner there because the front of the speaker is sloping.. ( hope you understand wat i'm trying to say here) About the second one, I'ts not really clear to me, is the top of the speaker cabinet exactly flush with the front baffle? do you happen to have a side view of that picture? thanks!
anyone?
