So I'm working on a new studio. I have a thread open in the design forum if you want to check it out. http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=65196#65196 For whatever reason, even though we are signing a 5 year lease the owner is still freaked out about what modifications we are going to perform. We had decided previously that sound transfer through the floor was negligable and that we would simply pull up the floor around the perimeter of what will be the control room to set up a new set of walls. At this point though it sounds likethe owner does not want us to do this. So one idea that was discussed was floating a new floor over the existing wood not so much for the isolation but just to make the owner of the builing happy. After reading Rod's book as well as the info on this forum about wood deck floated floors i'm concerner about the resonance issues. I'm looking to find any suggestions to help remedy the situation. I've also thought about the possiblilty of filling in between the studs with something heavy like sand to kill any resonance. Or perhaps since its the control room and it probably won't get above 95db during mixing should it not be an issue? Rod if you check this out I would definitely like your input.
