Hi All, It's going to be a while before I get to build my real studio, so in the meantime I've turned a small spare bedroom into a temporary mixing room with 10 DIY absorbers. The were made from 4 sheets of 2400x1200x50 Insulco semi-rigid insulation sheets which were available locally. I placed them inside 70x19mm pine frames, stretched and stapled fabric (from Macquarie Textiles) over them, and added some Western Red Cedar trim for asthetics. It was a low-budget project designed to impact on the room as little as possible. I'm really happy with the results overall. They've turned a completely un-usable echo chamber into an effective mixing room. It's still far from ideal - there's a fair bit of bottom end build-up at the rear of the room, but from the mix position the mixes I've done so far translate well. The attached sketchup file shows all dimensions & location of the absorbers. Any feedback or questions are welcome!

It really looks nice! The Cedar trim is an excellent touch.
