Best monitoring position for this room?

Hi - this is a diagram (not to scale) of my new studio area and where I'm currently thinking the monitor position should be. I'm very open to hear other ideas though, and I'll probably start another topic regarding where to place my acoustic treatments. Thanks!!!! -Matt
Matt - face the window at the top of the drawing, speakers either side around 6 - 9' apart.. Deaden all the wall at the bottom where the entrance door is.
Ohhhh OK, thanks for the guidance there. I got into the habit of thinking that when I'm in a rectangular room, I want the extra space on the sides, not the back, because that's how I ended up doing it in my last room, but now I'm remembering that it was done that way mainly to take advantage of some great views out of the windows. So what do you think would be a good distance from that top wall to place the speakers? I figure I'll have to try to position myself so my primary reflection on the left won't be coming right off that pesky window.......
OK this time I've re-read the posting rules and am trying to comply better. Also, there was a major measurement error in the first sketch above - sorry! I had received length measurement info on this room that I thought read 15'6". Turns out the length is NOT 15'6", it is actually 156", or in other words 13', which is how I've corrected it in this sketch. So I've currently aligned myself and the speakers in the room as depicted here, trying to take the original advice offered above (thanks), but I'm still using a work surface that only allows a 4' equilateral monitoring triangle. Overview: This is a one person music and sound design production room. I tend to monitor at low SPLs. I do have some Acoustic Sciences budget corner bass traps and absorber/diffusers I'll be placing on walls. I'll probably post with pics of those and more detailed questioning about placement of them, and about placement of guitars that will hang on the walls. Construction details: This is a standalone building in the backyard, drywall construction, berber carpet throughout, textured paint on the ceiling, thick 6" wood moulding at floor, plus crown moulding throughout. Questions: I actually would prefer the view if I was facing towards the left side of the drawing. Now that the length measurement of the room has been corrected, is it still strongly advisable to face the top of the drawing? I may need to start monitoring in 5.1 before long - will that influence the decision all the more towards still needing to face the top of drawing? After suggesting which way I face, can I also get a suggestion of how far the face of speakers should be from the wall behind them? Is it pretty darn important for me to get those speakers at least 6' apart? (I could try to get another work surface that would allow for it), or do you think I can continue to get away with 4' OK for awhile? THANKS! :D

take a look at Ethan's How To set up a room page. very good info there. http://www.realtraps.com/art_room-setup.htm you wont be able to put bass traps in the right rear corner but you could put 4" 703 type panels on both of those doors (the entrance and the storage room) If the window on your left ends up perfectly in the reflection area from your monitors you could put a movable absorption panel there or even some heavy curtains to set up your RFZ sweet spot.
That's a great link alright. Very helpful stuff there that I wasn't aware of such as the 38% rule etc. So now I'm scooting way closer to the top wall to get myself in the 38 % zone (doh! No wonder low frequencies were so canceled when I was sitting towards the middle of the room!), and I'm starting to deal with treating primary reflection zones. Thanks roscoenyc. 8) There's no door to the storage area BTW - it's basically an open hallway.
