Hi. I am after some ideas on layout and construction of a studio in this room (Workshop). I'd like the room to comprise of a control room, live drum area and a couple of amp rooms. Posibly a vocal booth as well (If money and space allows). I've been talking to alot of different people but no one of the same calibre as you guys! I did, however, get onto a great guy named David Briggs who although gave me some great information, just didn't have the time to take on another project at the moment. He mentioned you guys and may I say, this site is top notch and the info available is mind blowing! Here's the room. PLEASE HELP ME!!

Aloha and welcome to the forum, Marc Congrats on your studio build! A question , if I may - How tall are your ceilings? Aloha 8)
Thanks for the reply so quickly! My ceilings are 3.4 m high and the main walls are double brick.
maybe something along these lines?

Whoa! A setup like that had not even occured to me! Looks great! Is there some way of incorporating the use of the small room next to the bathroom? (bottom right corner of the floor plan). At the moment it doesn't do anything and it'd be a shame to waste the space. Breaking down walls is not a problem, but I'd like to keep the bathroom intact.
Aloha, Great job, Glenn! I was thinking along the same lines, but ya beat me to it. Aloha 8)
Kendale - i've been noticing framing creeping in on your designs so i thought i'd try it ;-) using the joisttool.rb script - very cool and quick... BRS - you could use the spare room by using a glass door on the back (i think i may have put one there...) so you could make that another booth, or a machine room.
Here's another option. cheers john

ah... mucho nice... takes up the full space...
Hi john. Thank's for taking the time out to draw it up. I've got David Briggs on board the project, strictly as a consoultant, and he assures me that you're a very trustworthy source when it comes to the world of acoustics and studio design. And may I say, i think you've hit the nail on the head! Is it possible to get the measurements and angles to map it out on the floor? Would love to see how it looks. At the moment, the room is being used as a rehearsal space for my bands. Gulfo suggested using the room below studio 2 (in your design) as a machine room which is a great idea, but it would be cutting out the rehearsal space. My idea was to knock out the wall separating the two areas and use the whole space as studio 2 and an area where the band can fit in and jam. -If the wall is knocked down, how will the new shape affect the sound? -How do we rectify the problem?
here's the .skp file cheers john

Finally! Heres the pic John! Again, I don't really know what I'm doing but you get the general idea.
