Hey, first time post here at recording Studio design. Been lurking alittle bit. I'm used to forums on the web, but don't skip around much. I want y'all to take a step into my control room. Please feel free to tell me your thoughts. I know there is a lot of trash, but I have the Beatles anthology set! :o Anyways, -what kind of bass traps do I need? In every corner? -The window at the back is not boxed off, it is a shade. At the front of the room is a lounge area, mostly for console gaming and satellite television. I can do whatever you want to- to that area. I can (try to) mix on the surround sound speakers or the TAPCO S5 (2) monitors. I need help because I just can't mix and feel good. I don't think I'm hearing the same thing as everybody else. I feel more cutoff from the studio world, THAN IN IT. How much will room treatment cost me(?) and should I do that, or get new monitors and interface? Right now I'm using the interface: Lexicon Omega. The room is 24 feet long. It is 10 feet wide, and it is 5 1/2 drumsticks tall. (about 7 ft.) I can spend around $600-1000 dollars on the project. I've been recording crappily for awhile and am ready to go "come record here". It is above my garage, noise is no problem whatsoever. Unless the alarm goes off. It's a siren. Anyways, can't wait to see what I get here at johnlsayers.com. Thanks for having me!

Some people call this a "bump", but I just want to know what I need to do to my room? Any suggestions? Like separate the room into two rooms?
you might do some reading on the www.realtraps.com site or at www.auralex.com regarding room treatments. in this case you want bass trapping in the corners and a "cloud" over the mix position and absorbers on first reflection points. conceptually you could divide the room into 2 rooms and put a glass door between them.
