Hi guys, my first post here. :) I have a basement about 35 x 15, and I have some questions. It has a concrete floor, that slopes down into a drain thing. (lol?) It also has some flaking walls. Can you guys recommend a way to turn this into a studio with a budget below $200? :)
Also, i'm only going to have 3 rooms in it. One vocal, one editing, one live room. If I use drywall, could you guys give me an estimate of the price?
Actually the budget is now below $500.
not to be a partypooper but you'd need atleast an extra zero behind de $500... I'd say, hang around here for a while reading all previous posts and especially those addressing costs etc.
I have all the recording equipment, all I need are walls and things like that.
you might want to follow the "read me" stickie regarding location, details, drawing of the space, photos, type of music, isolation requirements, etc...

I wasn't talking about equipment. This is the construction forum and thaz all we talk about. Beware, building soundisolation walls can be pricey. Read this forum from left to right, back and forth and then again from top to bottom. THEN consider your plans and line'm up here. good luck, take your time.. it's worth it!
I have raised my budget to $500. Also, I don't need isolation. I live about 600 feet from my neighbor :D. I have posted another thread with the design picture in the Studio Design forum.
< $500? I probably spent more than half that on paint.

Okay, here's your design located: http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9249 Now, first of all. READ this forum. I and others have asked you to do so. Really, it gives you a better insight and perspective on building a music room. You want walls, but not iso. Okay, I can get that... I think. (or I don't .. hmm) Get some wood, some gypsum and yer done for that budget. Don't expect anything other than just a wall between rooms. The wall will only have the function of separating rooms, visually that is. oh, about the "blankets or anything else", I'd go with "anything else"
