I live in Damascus, Syria … in the middle east … actually I'm far away from all the world :) and no international markets here …
Actually I'm low in budget … I can't pay for the sound proofing (including doors and windows) more than 3000 to 3500$ maximum …
I'm thinking of fiber glass and gypsum board for the walls and partitions.
I found in the market nearby a fiberglass of about 48 density, and about 2.5 Cm thickness, and the board of about 120 x 60 cm is 5 to 6 $.
So please …. Can you help me with the design? What are the best dimensions for vocal booth and CR, absorbers and stuff …?
The dimensions of my room are: width: 295, length: 1000, highness: 290 cm.
The room is on concrete and slab and the walls are painted concrete too.
There is nothing in the room; it's empty except for the bathroom door at the end of it. Actually it was a garage.
i'v included a sketchup file with this topic, and notice that there is many pilasters cutting my garage into partitions, we may use it for partitioning.
I'm thinking of making a small waiting room at the front.
Actually there won't be much recording vocal and instruments … my main work will be sound FX and Dubbing for cartoon and stuff, but I may sometimes record a vocal or a guitar from time to time.
I may work at night … so I'll try my best not to let the neighbors be mad or crazy, this is my whole concern.
Please Help me design my garage studio

anybody ......................... ????????????
maybe a modification of John's single garage design would work? i'd use inside-out walls to get the treatment and isolation. you can use routed plywood for slats if 1x or MDF is not readily available. on the back of the CR i'd make it dead since you don't have a lot of depth there but i'd put in a false ceiling and make that dead end, live front with absorption behind it.
thanx gullfo ... but can you tell me what do you mean by inside-out walls, and what matirial should i use ... i really not that experienced and my english is not that great ;) ...
but really thank you anyway ..... :D
HI,
Inside walls are built the opposite to a standard interior house wall.
The inner shell would go=
GYpsum board-wood frame ( filled with fiberglass)- cloth finish.
1)THe studio walls are soft.
2) YOu build the frame lying flat on the ground, then raise to it's vertical postion when finished.
3) Lots of slat resonaters can be added
