Hi All, Only just registered but been reading these forums for a few months. I am very impressed by the quaility of the posters and the knowledge that is freely shared. Intro We are going to contruct a small studio in our Church. This studio will used to mix mostly live recordings and record overdubs. We would like to construct a control room and a small recording room. We have mixed a couple of albums in the current room and know we need to do more with the space to make a better space for mixing. Current Space The current space is two rooms but the rooms are not symetrical. Thinking the larger room would be the control room and the smaller room become the recording room. The current wall between the two rooms is suspected to not be load bearing but will be checked. So this possibly could be removed. Picture included of the current space with dimensions. The building is in an industial estate and therefore leaking noise out is not really an issue. The external wall faces a road and currently the road noise coming in is an issue. With the large and not properly sealed windows on the external wall leaking the noise. These will need to be sealed. First Go I've had a go at creating the control room space and have included a picture. I am after ideas whether this is a good option or whether any of you have any other ideas. Is not having a bass trap in the corner by the door an issue? Including the sketchup file for reference. Sketchup is amazing but I am still learning how to drive it. Thanks for looking. Craig.

Aloha and welcome to the forum, That's a good solution. Is it possible to relocate the door to the control room to the center of the rear wall, which will allow you to place a bass trap in the left rear corner? Aloha 8)
Thanks kendale. I had the same thought about moving the control room door today as well. Took a look today and it will be possible to move the door to the centre. Solves the issue with no bass trap in that corner. So here is an updated picture. Craig.

Aloha, Cool 8) Okay, next question - what do you have indicated on either side of your mix position in your revised drawing? (and all the way back to the corner absorbers) Aloha 8)
Craig - use the bottom right rear corner for bass trapping and make your drawn rear wall a false wall. cheers john
Yes, i was going to suggest the same. Do not loose space with new walls, make big bass traps. If you want insulation there, then it's a different thing.
Thanks for the responses guys. kendale - those are 20mm mdf covering the existing windows. It is an industrial building and the windows don't seal properly. John & Spyrow - Thanks for the suggestion, makes sense. I will work on a new picture without the extra back wall but with large bass traps.
Here is the current picture based on John and Spyrow's suggestion.
