Hey guys. I need a studio built but I'm not looking to build it myself. The company I work for is moving to a new larger office building and we need to build a new studio. Don't even ask about the current one. I'm looking to hopefully hire a professional firm who can design and build a studio based around our building room sizes and budget. Sorry to say I don't know either at the moment. My boss will have to ok everything in the end. I have yet to even suggest to him we hire a pro studio designer but it sounds like the right thing to do. Then again he may want to hack it together himself like they apparently did the first time, in which case I'll be right back here reading as much as I can. Still I think he'll go for it. We're trying to set a new precedence for ourselves. We work with some major fortune 500 companies and advertising agencies. It's time we stop acting like a small web firm with a makeshift recording studio and start acting like a high end professional facility. My bosses have echoed this kind of sentiment. So I want our clients to feel like they are walking into a professional studio that can handle even their biggest productions. I need something that offers a large green screen sound stage, an isolation booth that can fit a few talents at the same time who want to act off of each other. We do mostly VO record and never music. A client area where they can sit and jack into the internet with their laptops, rustle papers around, talk and even answer cell phones. Something comfortable casual, elegant and professional. I've had clients walk in with as many as 10 people wanting to monitor a record, multiple talents and so on. I also need some kind of control room where I can control audio and video records as well as provide talkback between there, the talent and the client sitting area. As well as a bathroom/changing room for talent. The sound stage area needs to be big enough that I can get the camera back a good 20 feet or more, fit a dolly, jib and so on. I'll be honest I've never set foot in a professional recording studio other then the one I'm currently in which I'm sure most of you would laugh at. So beyond what I've learned from my experience of our shortcomings at our current location and what I try to do for on location video/film shoots, I really don't have a good understanding of what else could be required for a pro studio. I don't even know what a studio like this would cost to design and build. All I can say is that the building we are buying is several million dollars so I'm sure we can put some budget into building one of the open areas into a nice studio. If you know of anybody or any firm please get back to me. Thanks
