I am a newbie to the forum. THANK YOU so much for all the info everyone shares. I have an 850 sq ft. basement. I have an awesome recording setup I am using to record/produce local bands and television shows with in the upstairs part of my house. READY to move it to the basement so I might have a "LIFE" again, or atleast somewhere to have friends hang out. :) I have gained so much info from here about what I need to do when I start on my basement. THANKS AGAIN!!! TASK AT HAND: I have read and researched about wall construction. My first task will be the perimeter soundproofing walls. I have non-filled concrete walls and some walls are underground. I believe the staggered 2 x 6 double sided and rockwool filled wall will be the amount of reduction I'll need. The basement is a dry, concrete slab ready-to-finish basement. My QUESTION at the moment is how to attach constructed wall(2 x 6 staggered) to concrete floor/ceiling rafters. I am aware that anything that hampers the system will result in reduced efficiency. Do I need to use neoprene to "de-couple" the 2 x 6's? Do I bolt them to the concrete floor/ceiling rafter? I have read SO MUCH info. Overwhelming. Just haven't seen info on how you guys secure these walls after you build them. Any info would be appreciated or reference to the link I'm missing out on. My plan is to to construct the walls over the windows so I can then install my stairs and slowly work on the actual completion of the basement while eliminating theft(At this moment I have no stairs to my basement so entrance from the well wooded backyard through the windows is not possible. I don't want to open the possibility of theft of my equipment). I am also considering installing GLASS BRICKS in the walls to let natural light through where the windows are located. I was not sure if this would be unadvisable or would destroy the walls original purpose of soundproofing. If this is possible, suggestions on the GLASS BRICK installation would be appreciated. Does anyone have experience with Quietrock? Is that a waste of money vs. more layers? I am anxious to begin and become a regular member sharing my lessons learned along the way. Thanks. b-rock
