I wonder about how important is the preamp in the chain. I'm going to use an USB card from M-Audio (without preamp) and the ECM8000 microphone but... I'm not sure about the preamp. Maybe is this enough? http://www.behringer.com/MIC800/index.cfm specs: http://www.behringerdownload.de/MIC800/ ... _Rev_A.pdf It's incredible cheap and that's a plus for me now (no too much money now), if the frec response of a preamp (even a cheap one) is in the order of +-3dB... is that enough? I suppose because I'm not going to be so perfect with the treatment but I would like to know if anybody has more experience with this. Btw, it's not a frecuency response graphic of in the behringer web, it only has a spec of +-3dB from 10Hz to 90Khz :(
Oh, many thanks in advance :D

Not at all. The worst preamp in the world will have a frequency response 100 times better than any room you'll measure. --Ethan
that's what I wanted to hear :D thanks ethan. maybe I'll ask for a frec response graphic of the nuetral preset of that thing to behringer (it has several presets with changes of EQ & distortion I think)

You'll obviously disable all that stuff. --Ethan
of course!
