I have been reading the forum and ive hit overload lol. Im trying to help a friend set up his mixing room and ive hit the point of confusion on where sound control needs to be placed. I understand bass traps need to be placed in the courners but what about the other traps. Ive attached a rough draft with the basic demensions. I forgot to include the ceiling hight which is 7'4".

Aloha and welcome to the forum! :D Congrats on your studio build! Any chance you could please:
Edit your profile to include your location. This is very important, because this is a worldwide resource, and as such, material costs and availability vary widely. For example, masonry is cheaper than gypsum in some parts of the globe, whereas it's the exact opposite in other regions.
You'll probably get more of a response by doing so and this will really come in handy two or three posts down the road. It's also part of the Forum guidelines. Thanks! For more info, check out both of these links - http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=7572 http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3231 Here is a link that will help explain what you're asking - http://www.saecollege.de/reference_material/index.html Be sure to click on the "Acoustics" tab on the left and then on the tabs at the top of the page. I'd flip that so the door is in the back and the inset space (on lower right) can be accomodated for more isolation/absorption space on the front wall to the point the soffits can fit the monitors.
thanks guys for the input. what im fighting is it is already built and I am trying to avoid any major mods if possible. The left side of the drawing has the glass between the recording room and the mixing room. in the lower rt courner (angled wall) is the entrence door. the 2' opening in the back right is to a closet area. Ill try to post a pic or 2 in the next fiew days hopefully it will help my explination
