Hi there,
I am a bit over my head with this so I'm hoping I can get some advice :)
My acappella group leader wants to purchase a portable vocal booth(whisperroom.com and vocalbooth.com, GK Acoustics are the 3 I've looked at) but he wants a totally dead room. Whisperroom said that their rooms are somewhere half-way in between "live" and "dead" - I don't know about the others.
What would it take to make one of these rooms totally "dead", or what can we do to create a dead one? Are there any companies out there that make totally dead rooms for sale?
One caveat - we are on a big time deadline. We need a booth in about a week (why we are looking for a premade solution rather than build ourselves...) so I'm looking for a solution ASAP.
Any advice would be great! I am a total newbie to this stuff.
Thanks!

Aloha and welcome to the forum! :D
Any chance you could please:
You'll probably get more of a response by doing so and this will really come in handy two or three posts down the road. It's also part of the forum guidelines. Thanks! For more info, check out both of these links - http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=7572 http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3231 One option would be to line the interior of the booth with 3" Roxul Mineral 2.5 to 3 PCF (Pounds per Cubic Foot) density, and then cover with cloth. This will deaden the booth but may alter the frequency response within making it sound a bit on the "muddy" side. Hope this helps, Aloha 8)Edit your profile to include your location. This is very important, because this is a worldwide resource, and as such, material costs and availability vary widely. For example, masonry is cheaper than gypsum in some parts of the globe, whereas it's the exact opposite in other regions.
Thanks for that....
Added my location and such - I appreciate the help!
