I'm at the stage of construction where I have built the walls (double walls 2 sheets of 13mm Soundstop gyprock 100mm SonoBats, airgap & same again for the inner wall), got the airlock MDF doors up and about to finish the ceiling (100mm SonoBats, airgap, 50mm SonoBats, Acoustic mounts, furing channell & 2 layers of 13mm Soundstop gyprock). I have received good advice & info from this forum on not only the wall/ceiling/door construction but also the HVAC as well.
Not only does my hand ache from caulking anything that doesn't move but my back is killing me because everything is really heavy :) .
I have looked into acoustic foam with my initial thoughts being to just cover everything! I realised pretty quickly that not only was that way too expensive but also a stupid idea.
I looked at a number of products including Auralex but noted that John Sayers pointed out that Sonex was the Aussie equivalent.
My recording space is L3.2m x W2.7m x H2.4m and they have a kit http://www.soundacoustics.com.au/
"The RK2 room kit is designed to tame significant acoustic problems in untreated small to medium sized rooms. The RK2 consists of 20 x SA600/75 broadband absorbers and 4 x BT270/600 pressure zone traps for $849 plus freight*."
Does this seem reasonable?
Are there specific heights to place the bass traps?
Everything I have seen seems to indicate spacing foam panels for best effect but how much space and how much treatment?
Thanks
Mick

Mick - those panels look to be around 600mm x 600mm (2' x 2') With 20 of them you will get 7.2 sqm of coverage.
A sheet of 3" insulco semi-rigid is 2.4m x 1.2m (8' x 4') so to get the equivalent area in insulco you will need 2.5 sheets. I bet you could get them for less than $800 ;)
cheers

have a look at www.fonic.com
Thanks for that Andrew. I have checked out that site and emailed them for prices - strangely enough I just received a copy of an email that you sent to Ron from Boral today:D
I have also spoken to the insulco people as their site was pretty useless when it came to the semi-rigid sheets that John mentioned (RRP $120.03 2.4mx1.2mx100mm sheets).
I'm starting to drown in info and I'm pretty sure it's easier to get it wrong than right :?
Mick
