This is a wonderful forum. Ok, I have a 11.5' x 20.5' x 7.5' ceiling with 1 AC port coming into it and 1 entrance door. I figured I best ask and search the forums for the best options. I desire to have this room split into 2 rooms. I want the live room to be able to do drums or vocals. I was thinking of making the live section to be 9' feet from the back wall and the width (11.5' feet) of the whole room. I felt this would be a good size to hold a small 3 piece band or a small singing ensemble with some breathing room. This would leave 11.5 feet for the control room (pre-wall constructions). This room was a patio converted into a room connected to a garage that was converted into rooms. Behind the paneling is sheet rock. I'm not sure where to start but I was thinking about covering the existing wall with new drywall before proceeding but I think it needs to be a new wall over the existing one with insulation. I have read in these forums how some like the one room concept. I prefer a 2 room setup. I also realize I don't have much room to play with dropping the ceiling or even raising the floor. My setup is the typical Protools PC setup, with dual LCD monitors and Tapco studio monitors (14"Deep x 11"Wide x 16.5"Tall)

This hallway leads into the room I want to convert. I am even thinking of putting a new wall on this outer wall as well.

Inside looking out along the wall connected to the hallway.

This is the "Back Wall" where I think the iso booth should go.

There are only 3 power outlets and a overhead light in this room.

This is how it is now, the basic layout
if you look at sideshow's build, you see how inside out walls may be useful. you'll be adding treatment and isolation at the same time and one need a bit more treatment when you're done (hopefully...) here's one idea on how you might build something in this space. it would be great (to me at least) if you could clean up the bricks and keep them as your floor. put a couple of throw carpets down to break up the ceiling/floor echos. you'll also need some air supplies and returns to provide some oxygen...

Wow, awesome design. I really really really appreciate the concept and idea. It truly helps me to have a great starting point since I have NO CLUE LOL! :D I will study the air induction system setup and the procedures for building these walls. As for the brick floor, it has carpet glue patches everywhere (love the idea of leaving it). It's kinda rough looking but could be treated to give a glassy, clean and safe look. Question: 1. Could the control be on the side with the door?
you could flip the design but generally speaking, if you're having people move equipment in and out of the tracking room, its best to not have them carry it through the control room...
