Kendal,
Wow quick response, thank you.
I'll read the links...
Adding info,
I have interconection in south-east area. And my Idea is to close/make a door in that area.
So, I have non pararel but yet non symetrical rear wall...is it ok?
Is that your design? Cool...how's the detail? do you have skp file?
Aloha,
Hmmm, the file is too big to post. PM me your email and I'll send it to you that way.
Aloha 8)
Kendal,
Are your design for soffitmount speaker?
Which one is the best? Using stand or soffitmount?
I'm using focal solo6be.
I learn the links,
So where should I start with my room?
I'm playing with reverberation cacl :
125hz : 0.16
250hz : 0.32
500hz : 0.35
1Khz : 0.35
2Khz : 0.28
4Khz : 0.28
am I correct? and what does it mean?
So is it mean my room's hi freq is below standard? 0.28<0.3 right? The lo (125) also below 2sec, 250 also below 0.92sec. The 500 also below 0.49sec And what's the best tratment for my room? I also playing arround with RoomMode/Fundamental Freq Calc. Room Lenght : 3.85 Fundamental : 44.54545454545455hz 1st Harmonic : 89.0909090909091hz 2nd harmonic : 133.63636363636363hz 3rd harmonic : 178.18181818181816hz What is this value about in designing mixroom? I found somewhere same calculator (acoustic calculator) but the result not only 3 freq, but alotof....is it mean the fundamental and the 3 harmonic will be enough info to start designing a room? How to determine that this wall must be absorb, those must be diffuse and put thebass traphere...etcetcetc? How to determinie thicknes of rockwoll/glasswoll/other material? I know it's really basic questions...but that's me...I don't have much info and knowledge in civil eng, architect nor acoustic...The shorter reverberation time in the high end is reasonable at 0.3 sec (around 0.4 -0.5sec is desirable) but you must take down the low end as well. The reverb time at 125Hz is around 2 sec, at 250 it's 0.92 sec,at 500 it's down to 0.49 sec and it reaches 0.3 sec at 1000Hz and is right down to 0.21 sec at 4kHz. The low mid and lows need correct treatment.
Kendal, John and everyone
Regarding Kendal's design for my room,
I have some questions...
1. Do I need treatment for ceiling?
2. My friend ever gave me a design but on that time I gave him wrong dimension of my room and now he's super busy to move his job to philadelphia US, so I try to find answers here.... I atatch his design...
I believe he was using cardas golden ratio to determine speaker placement..
I told him I will use stand for speakers
And he start from there...
The dimension (wrong dimension) = 4X3X2.55 meters
The Translation :
A. Foam/Glasswooll about 1.56 cm, min 5cm thickness. Empty Space behind A can be filled with abrorber material or just empty or put PVC, height 1.5m from floor (c)
B. Diffuser
C. (if apply) PVC length 1.9m-19.5m. Top side close with foam/glaswoll about 20-30cm and the other side must be fully closed.
D. X = Glaswoll min 1.5cm, best 2,5cm. Y= Frame (wood or metal frame)
z = wall
E. Waving Thick Gordyn when mix or thin gordyn ok too.
F. Foam/Glasswool minim 5cm thick. Framed for holding up.
F2. Just like F, top on D
He told me that the design must be totally change with the corect dimensions, but he said sorry because he's very busy...
So, It's really different design with kendal design...is it same concept in mind?
3. Kendal, how thick the "new" acoustic wall? and how's the construction?
4. Which one is absorber and which one diffusor and which one the bass trap...?
Thank you verrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyyy muaaaaaaaachhhhh
Aloha Joe,
If I may, please resize your pics down to no more than 700 pixels wide. This will eliminate having to scroll back and forth just to read the posts, and will probably help you to get more responses to your questions. This is also part of the forum rules. Thanks!
Generally speaking, most of the acoustic treatments prescribed here call for either 2"-3" semi rigid mineral wool/rock wool or fiberglass, what ever of which is available in your area. Foam based materials are NOT usually suggested.A. Foam/Glass wool about 1.56 cm, min 5cm thickness. Empty Space behind A can be filled with absorber material or just empty or put PVC, height 1.5m from floor (c)
Here's a couple of links to check out that might help - http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=5457 http://johnlsayers.com/Stuff/Small_Studio.skp3. Kendal, how thick the "new" acoustic wall and how's the construction?
The rear wall is the absorber, the angled sidewalls are slot resonators and the bass trap is in the rear ceiling/wall area. In a room your size, I would not recommend diffusers. Depending on the results of closing off one of the doorways you mentioned, if you can fit in more bass trapping, that would work to your benefit. Which one is absorber and which one diffusor and which one the bass trap...?
I'm ordering the book....meanwhile....
Wow it's starting stress me a bit....
I'm not good in math and technical english...
But I will try to learn one step at a time......
Regarding 60 degree of speaker and sidewall length...
1. How to determine sweetspot? Cardas golden ratio works here?
2. What/where/which is the reference point to aiming the speaker?
3. I'm really confuse and lost how to angle the front wall(soffitmount)...  ........also angling the sidewall...where's the point to start, how's the length etc,etc.... (I didn't go to phytagoras class....  )
Please guys.......heeeeeeellllpppppp!!!!
