Hello everybody! I was recommended to post my question in here and it seems that this i definitively the right place! :D I got a question concerning the acoustic in my "classic-bedroom-producer-studio". (5,80m*3,40m with an oriel and 3 windows and a quite high 3,20m ceiling and wooden floor). This is how i got my setup right now: http://img113.imageshack.us/img113/9618/studio1al4.jpg But as i started to care about acoustic treatments i read a lot about absorbers and diffusors and i'm no longer satisfied with my monitors standing in the oriel in front of the walls and windows with all the corners (the windows are in 15 cm dents). So i thought about changing the placement of my monitors and putting 3 DIY-traps (blue) behind them and placing filled record/bookshelves as diffusors on the opposite side (pink): http://img503.imageshack.us/img503/1890/studio2od3.jpg I know that the monitors should normally be placed on the shorter side of the room, but as there are windows in the oriel there is less chance for acoustic treatment. I also know that i won't achieve a professional sound in this room, but i want make the best out of it, as i'm a broke student ;-) At the moment i'm using crappy "samson - resolve 65" monitors but i'm just about to upgrade my monitors. I would be happy to get some tips of you and to hear your opinion on my thoughts.. Thank you in advance and best regards :D
i think you're better off with the top one. the long room will make up for a lot of sins... put in a cloud overhead and drapes on the windows for mix time.
