Rockwool / Roxul / Roxull in Sweden ?

I'm currently trying to research isolation materials, suitable for panels/clouds, available in Sweden. What I've gathered from this forum so far is that high density Rockwool (marketed as Roxul in Canada/U.S. and Roxull in Sweden) can be used as a less expensive substitute for Owens Corning 703 & 705 (apparently, Owens Corning Swedish subsidiary do not market any rigid fiberglass). So the possible availability of Roxull in Sweden and the published acoustic data in addition to the recommendation by members of the forum has lured me into that direction. Now to my questions:
  • Is there anyone from Sweden on the forum that have bought and used Roxull?
  • If so, what product specifically?
  • What rockwool products suitable for panels are available through Roxull?
  • From what I've learned on the forum and by coefficient comparison it's probably RHF 80, RW 40 or AFB that I'm most interested in. Is it available through Roxull?
(BTW, the roxull.se site is driving me bonkers, otherwise I would have found answer to some of the questions above.)
Just noticed this in another thread
Roxul RW™40 - 3.0" has good specs and apparently a good price - a friend in Kansas purchased it locally for 35c/sqft. http://www.roxul.com/sw18207.asp good figures: 0.62 1.03 1.20 1.10 1.08 1.10 1.10
Anyone know if it's available in Sweden?
For the fun of it (who had guessed) I did a chart to compare the rockwool I'm interested in with 703 as a reference.

82 views and no one with suggestions. I'm going to email Roxull and see if they can offer what I'm looking for (from the little I understand from the product information on their site it doesn't looks like it). But my experience from dealing with Swedish companies tells me that I won't get any answer... Oh well. Hmm.. wonder if I have to order a cargo container if I end up importing it from Canada? (joke)

:) Dah, Roxul = Rockwool from the International Rockwool group. That's a fun story: Rockwool had factories in Sweden. In 1974, due to whatever trouble on the board, Rockwool Sweden was sold to the Swedish governement. Condition: they had to stay out of one another markets. Then later (should need to check the exact when) Rockwool Sweden was privatised again (but not belonging to Rockwool International anymore), still using the name Rockwool Sweden, but they export outside Sweden under the name Ecomax. And Rockwool itself (former parent company) uses the name Roxul for their Swedish market. For the others: However strange this may sound, these events are related with the history of corner absorption, which was originally a Swedish originating patent, bought/licensed by Rockwool Sweden and locally stuck there due to these foreign commercial relationships. They have lots of factories. Hence whatever you find in Canada can deviate from whatever you buy here (local productions). But all that material is good. If you use a rockwool (whatever brand, in Sweden you also find e.g. Partec, Paroc) between 45 and 60 kg/m3 it's OK (depending where you use it for. In walls can be lighter) Bob's page with absorption is very good. But Bob himself rightfully relativates these things a bit suggesting measurement tolerance. The US measurement culture and standards can also lead to somewhat higher absorption values as rhe European method. Hence don't worry too much about that.
BTW, I never thanked you Eric for your answer that shed some light on the situation. Not that much have happened since last summer regarding my studio acoustic project, but I have now yet again started looking into getting some panels built. So I did check out PAROC that you mentioned and I soon found what I was looking for: * Fire Slab 100, size 1200x600 mm, thicknesses 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 and 100 mm, nominal density 100 kg/m3 (6.24 pcf). * Slab 100, sizes 1200x600, 2000x1200 mm, thicknesses 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 100 mm, nominal density 100 kg/m3 (6.24 pcf). So I will probably go for the "Slab 100" which seems to be fairly equal to OC 705 (90 kg/m3) and Roxul RXL 60 (96 kg/m3), and while we are on the subject, the "InVent 45" seems to be fairly equal to OC 703. Here's a chart, found here, showing the absorption of PAROC rockwool slabs (but it fail to state the density):
Recovered from web.archive.org — originally hosted at http://www.paroc.se/resources/ti_se_hvac_airducts_diagram_350x280.jpg
There's also a PDF (in Swedish) with some additional charts and tables that might be of interest. But as already stated here and elsewhere, the exact absorption values are of minor interest, most rockwool slabs of equal density should act the same. I plan to order Slab 100, 1200x600 mm (4x2'), 50 mm (2") for my traps. I will post a price quote as soon as I get it. I'm posting this info here because I've received email from people in Sweden asking me if I ever found something useful.
