Hello all-
My studio is in construction phase (I still need to post pictures for the forum).
Here's the story: I have a double-wall construction between the control room and live room. I understand the M-A-M principle, but I'm wondering if the rockwool (mineral wool) insulation touches, if this principle is defeated??? In other words, do I need to ensure there is an actual airspace between the batts of insulation...
Thanks in advance for your help! I'll be posting pics in the next couple of days of the entire process up to this point.

If you pack it too tightly it could bridge - but if it just barely touches it won't.
I wonder though - why spend the extra money for rockwool when fluffy fiberglass will get the job done just as good?

Thanks Rod!!! I went with rockwool because I read more stuff about it in these forums and my builder had used it before for media rooms and commercial stuff he did way back. The product is already there and essentially installed, I just wanted to make sure it was installed correctly before my two layers of drywall went up.
BTW, your book has helped me tremendously through this process. Thanks for putting studio construction advice in layman's terms.
