Okay, it's worse than I thought. 11 x 20 garage: it slopes down almost 3 inches from one side to the other PLUS it's lower in the middle. I really want to save money and do it myself. Can I use self-leveling cement and do it in multiple layers? I'm trying to avoid digging the slab out and having it repoured. Or can I just pour over existing? Does anyone know how much it would cost to take out an 11 x 20 garage slab and repour?
i think you need a boding solution first then you can go over it.
You need to read Sharward's entire thread, then ask him what his costs are so far - this is almost EXACTLY what he's doing... Steve
I did not pour over existing... I jackjammered up about 200 square feet of my garage floor and poured a isolated new slab in its place. This is what cjbdrm doesn't want to do...
"Does anyone know how much it would cost to take out an 11 x 20 garage slab and repour?" That's the question your thread/you could answer best - without doing that, there are newer methods than I've seen for leveling that gross an error. They involve using a special conditioning stuff that also acts as an adhesive for the new pour, but I'd be more comfortable with Rod covering this - I've not had any first-hand experience doing it... Ah! I missed that latter question. I did a really bad job of documenting the costs for my project... But I'd estimate $2,500 to $3,000 for everything involving the concrete pad repour, doing all the labor myself except the pour itself. I even did the excavation, compaction, and form setting, and some of the rebar work. It's coming back to me like a bad dream! My final pour(s) used six cubic yards. --Keith
