Hi guys, first of all - great forum! This site helped me alot over the years understanding the importance of acoustics. Good job! So yeah, here is the problem that I have. Basically, I just moved, in this "altbau" apartment (oldfashioned style flat) over here in Berlin. The difference with the altbau is that its ceiling is super high and I am not quite sure wether that is good or bad?! I monitor for audio post including game audio sound design. I use near-flied speakers and at the moment I am trying to figure out the best sounding room treatment for that room of mine. I do a little mixing as well!! I kind of feel, that because of the high ceiling early-reflections and bass treatment is an issue! I thought of getting a basstrap and some absorbers on left/right walls. I am very interested in what you brilliant sound professionals would do in such a scenario. Pictures of the Room and sketches can be found here: http://carstenrojahn.com/media/daw_jablonski_PDF.pdf The actual SKP (great software btw, I just started to play around with it) you can access here: http://carstenrojahn.com/media/daw_jablonksi.skp I can't wait to get some really cool input! Cheers, Carez 8)
...mmmh! Things aren't clear!? Well okay, attached there is a new Sketch from the building with NOW actual traps drawn (I am getting better with SketchUp) in. I am kind of not sure about the Coud Setup (how high it should be). Also what worries me is the left side of the room. Do you think I should set up a trap there as well? I am planing to get one trap on the door (so I can still open close it) with of cause the right angle and accurate treatment when door is closed. Do you have any further suggestions about the ceiling? Again is would be awsome to hear from you! Carsten

Aloha and welcome to the forum! :D Congrats on your studio build! Any chance you could please:
Edit your profile to include your location. This is very important, because this is a worldwide resource, and as such, material costs and availability vary widely. For example, masonry is cheaper than gypsum in some parts of the globe, whereas it's the exact opposite in other regions.
You'll probably get more of a response by doing so and this will really come in handy two or three posts down the road. It's also part of the forum guidelines. Thanks! For more info, check out both of these links - http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=7572 http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3231 Looking forward to your build!
