G'day,
First of all I would like to mention what a great site this is and thanks to everyone who posted all of the useful information on this forum.
So here we go....
My main goal is to turn my fairly small room into a rehearsal room/one room studio for recording our 5 piece rock band
I would like to improve the acoustics without losing too much space as the room is not very big.
I was originally going to put bass traps in all four corners and slot resonators along the side walls but due to the size and shape of the room im not sure what to do.
One good thing is that because the ceiling is 2.6m high I should have enough height to be able to hang a cloud
(note: it is all internal dimensions and both doors actually open inwards)
Also... the door on the shorter end can be moved along that wall if needed.
Any advise will be well appreciated
Cheers, Matt

Thanks John for your reply,
That looks like a good idea but I was hoping to keep the room fairly open as we need to fit our 5 piece band in there for rehearsal.

I was thinking I could possibly put bass traps up in the top corners to save space and hang some broad band absorbers around the room
but I still think I need something to break up the parallel walls but im not sure how to do so without losing too much space.
And also... by having those broad band absorbers will it absorb too much of the highs and make the room lifeless? Should I incorporate a slot resonator instead of broad band absorbers and where would be the best place to do so ?
Cheers, Matt
sure, but I thought you wanted to record as well.
That kit is to scale. Wherever you put it, it will take up that much floor space, so the rest of the band sets up in the control room area, you can see the drummer ok.
On the other hand you have a proper RFZ front for the recording mixing aspect of your room. Deaden all the area under the stairs and your monitors and your mixes will sound better.
it's a simple addition to your setup.

I do want to do recording as well its just that I don't think that the rest of the band plus amps and equipment would fit in that control room area.
