As you can see there's a small room, about 9 square meters in my backyard which i'm planing to soundproof somehow. I want to use acoustic drums inside the room. One of the walls is in contact with a neighbour building. The ground floor of the neighbour building will not be livable space. It will be something like a garage. My room has walls made of bricks (you can see them) , concrete floor and concrete ceiling. Dimensions, although you can find them with sketchup, are 3,30x2,75x2,5 meters. Questions and directions: In one of the pictures you can see my idea around soundproofing this room. Could something like my design do something "good"? Could you predict the final result? Of course i'm writing to this forum to hear some ideas from you or even step by step guide to understand what i should do. I could afford spending about 1000 euros to soundproof the room. Thanks !! Nick :D

Hai Nick and welcome to this awesome resource. You've started the build already? What's with the HOLLOWCORE bricks?! Seems like a big waste, unless you actually filled them with, for example, sand. Guess you didn't . . . Or did you build it at all? For soundproofing, MASS is needed. I'd recommend to stick around for a few weeks to read this forum's content, starting with them stickies. Then, read it again. After that, reconsider and make up a new/altered plan. good luck!
Well, the building is ready. Yes, the bricks are hollow and can't do something about it right know. And yes i'm going to read as many topics as i can. :D
definitely look at sideshow's stickie in the design forum
Yeah, sure gullfo. I'm sorry. I made the following plan with sketchup. The gray/black thing on the walls is acoustic foam. Something like this http://www.thomann.de/gr/takustik_noppenschaumstoff.htm The bass traps covering the corners are something like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Acoustic-Treatmen ... dZViewItem I want to avoid to use mineral wool to build bass traps. The angular things i've designed are empty wooden panels covered with acoustic foam. I think that they will help to attenuate the effect of the parallel walls. I've also added a (really) small DIY vocal booth. I will use an electronic drum set and not an acoustic like the one in the plan. My main problem with the room is the echo. It's like a cave. I know that it's like a cube and that it's the worst shape but i can't do something about it. By getting rid of my acoustic drum set i don't have to make the room soundproof anymore. So it will be only bricks. No gypsum boards, no mineral wool. The whole idea is going to cost me around 600 euros. So...looking to my plan do you think that it will help somehow the sound of the room? Am i doing any mistakes with the plan that i don't understand? Looking forward to some advice. Thanks for the great forum , thanks for sharing the knowledge. Nick P.S. my sketchup file is around 5mb so i can't upload it.

I have modified my plan a little. So i'm posting the last version.

if you build inside-out walls you could add the treatment you want to get rid of the "cave" sound, or just some slat resonators around the room to create some angles and balance the low-mid modes. because the room is square though, you might extend one side of the booth to create a slat resonator that will go deep and also change the room shape a bit.
