Hello everyone, this is my first post here. I've been reading A LOT about room treatment in the last month, and although I've gained a lot of knowledge, it's also lead to a little bit of overload. I'm starting to get dizzy.
I would appreciate it if some of you could take the time to give me your opinions on treating my control room. I've attached a diagram of the layout. The orange panels in the diagram only represent the basic treatment i have in MIND. I didn't actually do anything yet but i'm ready to. I will be using 8# rockwool for the panels/traps.
Because of the fact that the majority of the music i record is Urban, with a lot of sub bass material, I'm mainly concerned about room modes and what type of absorbers/traps to build. I'm thinking of using 6" of RW for the corner traps (to rival super chunks), and 4" + airspace for all other panels.
I'd love to get some opinions. Slot panels? Open faced? Also, is it critical to use clouds at my mix position even though the ceiling is angled? All the surfaces are drywall except the back wall, which is covered with a wood grain paneling. The floor has a thin carpeting. What would you do if it were your room, on a budget of under $500?
Thanks!
Information overload! Room treatment help please

Your basic layout is fine. If you plan to DIY you can still use all of the placement advice on the RealTraps web site: http://www.realtraps.com/placing_mt.htm http://www.realtraps.com/art_room-setup.htm Then follow up with any questions here. --EthanI would appreciate it if some of you could take the time to give me your opinions on treating my control room.
