Hi all I am building a vocal booth and need to know what to use to connect xlrs and instrument cables ass well as headphone s from inside to outside of my booth any help will be geat thank you. I would also ask if 1/4 inch glass would work for my window of my booth. I cant seem to find 1/2 inch laminated glass.
Q2: depends on your vocal booth. (read: give us more info, your current mass for example). 3/4" gypsum wall is about the same mass as 1/4" glass. . so, depends on your current mass :) Q2: You mean, yer looking for a pre-fab panel with connectors? Again, what's your current construction.
Thanks for replying. I am building a vocal booth with 2x6 wood studs, drywall(gypsum) on the outside and mdf on the inside. My dimensions are 6x5x8 I know square is bad. I have very little choice. I wanted to have a window of 2x3 ft made of 1/4 inch laminated glass, Two panes angled. I am stagering my studs and using owens corning 703 inside walls. Also a solid core door. I plan on a laminated floor and acoustic foam on the walls. This may not be the correct forum but I cant seem to find acoustic caulk here in miami fl usa. On the other front, I was thinking of using electrical conduit with 90 degree turns using single xlr to xlr and 1/4 inch cable for my headphones in the booth. I'm also at a loss for info on communication between my cr and the vocal booth. I have a Behringer xenix 1622 fx mixer and using a pc based daw. I am using cakewalk as my software. As far as my mass I dont know but I am using 3/4 inch drywall and mdf inside Thanks for any help
Okay, it's a start. I assume, since you talk about 2 panes of glass, you're planning a double wall. Don't need to stagger that. How much sheets of gypsum/mdf yer planning? As I told you, density of glass is roughly 3 time higher than GB/MDF. Going with 1 sheet of 3/4" GB and 1/4" glass is, mass wise, just fine. But 2 sheets of 3/4"GB need atleast 1/2" of (laminated) glass (equivalent mass). (per wall side!)
Im after the pre-made wall connectors too, any body know where I can get them in the UK? Just need a mic and headphone sockets connecting the inside and outside of the booth. Thanks in advance :)
