I'm in the process of buying an ERV, and in the manual it says it's required to have furnace blower. I've never seen anything about that on this forum before. :? Well actually, the cheaper 'compact' Fantech says it's required in the manual, and the more expensive one says it "may be required to operate when ERV is on". I'm looking to spend as little as possible on this. How is one different from another? Is it REALLY required? I'm confused.
Furnace blower needed with ERV?

Never mind, I figured it out. If I read the manual more carefully, I would have seen the part where it said for "direct connection of both HRV/ERV supply air stream and exhaust air stream to the furnace COLD AIR RETURN". Since I'm using a mini-split, the ERV will run separately from the COLD AIR, hence no furnace blower is needed.
That looks right. 8) You're just using it as a fresh air mechanical ventilation system in lieu of any windows, so that should be just fine.
