Studio in office space

Hey all, I started with plans to build a studio in my basement (HERE), and everyone was very helpful. My locale has changed, however. I am now renting space in an office building, and I need a little guidance. First, here is what I plan to do and what I expect of the space. * It won't be soundproof -- not even close. * I'll be recording sound in an isolation booth (WhisperRoom), and everything else will exist solely in the wires - MIDI & DI. * I'll be recording some video, as well. * This is all an expansion of my web design business into video, audio, and music. OK, the space is 17.5' by 35'. It will be combined office/studio. The studio will be approximately 10.5' x 17.5'. The ceiling is 9.5'. I plan to build a partition between the studio and office, but it will only go as high as 8.5' (not all the way to the ceiling). The WhisperRoom will also comprise part of the partition (placed in line with it, with the partition continuing above it's top. Clearly, I'm going to need treatment (in more ways than one), and I'm looking for input on that, but my first question is about the partition. It will be 2x4 studs and it won't, as I said, go to the ceiling -- it won't even have a door. Does it make any sense to insulate the partition? For dampening maybe? For treatments, I'm planning to start with some foam, but will move on to furniture-like speaker mounts and such. Again, any input is very appreciated. Thanks! - Andy PS: I'd post a sketch of the space, but I'm currently on a cruise ship in the Caribbean... Life's tough, folks. ;)
Here, because you've all been clamoring for it ;), is a sketch of the whole space. The studio area is shown in green hatching. The partition I'll be building is shown in red. Again, it will terminate a foot below the 9'6" ceiling (and will actually continue over the booth to the south wall). I am not planning a door south of the booth. The question I have (for now) is should I bother with insulation (pink stuff) inside the partition? Would it help in any way? Thanks, Andy

Your partition will act somehwat like a panel bass trap...putting insuilation in there will broaden the Q of the trap, making it more effective over a wider range of frequencies, which is desireable since you probably won't be strictly calculating what stud spacing to use in order to get optimum bass absorbtion at a particular frequency. Oh, and use single layer drywall only...you want the wall to resonate slightly in this case. Cheers Kris
Thanks Kris -- what you said makes sense. I appreciate the response. - Andy
