First, I love this board.
I’m in the Pacific Northwest.
Building a 12 x 16 shed/studio 8 ft ceilings
Staggered walls, two layers of drywall.
Most stuff will be recorded direct.
Neighbors about 100 feet away.
I have read the shed to studio thread many times. I have a question about the floating floor.
I’ve read lots of info about the pros and cons of a floating floor, but I am still uncertain if it is a good idea in this kind of a build. If a floating floor is a waste of time and materials then I won’t.
If I don’t use a floating floor how should I build the platform? I would still need a MAM floor. Should I put two layers of plywood underneath the floor joists and fill with insulation, like laying a wall on its side on top of the skids?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Shed floating Floor?

Most of the "floating floors are not necessary" statements have been in the context of slab-on-grade. In that case you would not have, nor would you want, M-A-M.

Thanks,
So in my context a floating floor would still make sense?
Seeing as you need some sort of foundation to build this - why not just build slab on grade?
That would solve your whole problem with the deck........

Rod
Only if you're willing to go to all the lengths to do it correctly, and you'd be in little company if you are.

My post crossed with Rod's.
Yes, what Rod said. That came to my mind... But I'd sure like to have more clues what your goals are, the environment you're in, your budget, all of that. Sticky threads/announcements tell all of what we need.
