Hi-
I'm new here, but have been a professional songwriter, signed artist and in the industry for over 25 years and need some advice on a new studio space.
I am ready to build another studio in the basement of my former in-law house (a detached 2,000 sq ft home, 2 levels, 200 amps) app. 60 yards from the main house.
I have no concerns with respect to SPL as I'm on 5 acres with no neighbors around. Further, it is fully insulated and there is little to no noise outside that could interfere when recording. The HVAC units are outside, and are over 30 feet away from the intended recording area.
My questions are as follows:
1. Ideas as to treatment, wall angles and the like especially the sliding doors and 3 windows;
2. Ideas as to where you would locate the console, build the iso booth and equipment room based upon the attached rough layout (correct dimensions) and store the guitars, etc;
3. Ideas to treating the low ceiling (finished 3/4" drywall). Clouds, etc.
Known studio furniture in the room: Console Desk, (3) 28 space oak racks, 6 guitar amp heads, 6 Spkr stands, 2 chairs (at the mix position).
OTHER ROOM ELEMENTS: 18" sub, assist desk, mic lockers, shelves, guitar amps, 26 guitars, 2 synths, mic stands, etc.
DAW: PTHD 6 with (2) 30" Mac Displays, an Intel Duo Core MacPro (and one G5 on a small 36" desk for internet access, etc away from PT).
POWER: 200 amp service, iso transformers, regulators, backups, - focused on clean power in the studio.
I have attached a rough sketch of the space with dimensions below.
Thanks in advance for your helpful advice and input!

Hi John-
What great ideas! Nice work and a creative approach to the space! I know you do this for a living and I certainly would not like to take your knowledge and help without consideration.
I need assistance with room treatment, materials, etc., and like your sketch #2 the best. Great design. I assume you could advise me with respect to build out plans, materials, clouds, traps, bass traps/diffusing and the like?
Should we pm each other? How do we go about starting this?
Thanks in advance... LOVE the site!!
