I just bought a door that was removed from the J. Paul Getty's Malibu, CA Villa during it's $275 million dollar restoration...... that's right...... $275 MILLION! Holy cow... This door is HUUUUUGE. 41 1/2" x 93 ¼" x 3 ¼" Oak door. It is super thick and it must weight about 300 pounds. I'm planning on using it to divide my control room from my tracking room. The wall is a double framed 2x4 with a 2" gap, double 2x6" headers with plywood in between and two full king studs with jack studs. I'm thinking this door will be a good "super door" replacement. Any thoughts on special framing/hanging considerations should I make?

No input, just... Wow! Cool Door! - Andy
I'm bumping this for the original poster, because I didn't want my stupid comment to be the only response he got. Could someone with real building experience (paging Rod) give him some advice? - Andy
its all to do with mass
That's a whopper, alright. Make sure you use screws that go into your framing (not just the door jamb) when you hang it, and I'd suggest ball-bearing hinges if you can get them. Frank
