I have read here a few times that the monitors should be at 30 degrees. I know this is optimal but how bad (if at all) is it if they are 40 or even 45 degrees?????
monitor placement angles???

I think that larger angles will result in a smaller "sweet spot" for optimal listening. By keeping the angle smaller you are ensuring that most of the direct sound of the monitors fire down the (presumably) longest direction of your room, resulting a longer time between the direct sound and the first early reflection resulting from the back wall.
Are larger angles terrible...I don't think so. Older studio designs used to toe in the monitors more, and aimed them a bit behind the engineers head.

Thanks Kris, That really helps a lot. The monitors do in fact fire down the longest direction of the room. And I would much rather have the larger sweet spot.
Thanks for your help.
