All the build diaries really help me, so I thought I would give back and put mine in.
We started with a previous constucted studio that was done improperly.
You can see the carpet on the walls and ceiling. You can see under the carpet was paper board that you get at Home Depot.
This was the control room and the ISO room is on the other side of the 1/16" classes. (Unvortuately we have to keep those Glass windows. But I will mount them properly.)
We are moving the CO to the other side of the glass you see in this pic.

This is what was under the carpet! 5/8 gypsum with metal frames.
This building used to be an ATT call center. They had about 20 phone lines going into this room.
You can see the glass and frame it was mounted in. The frame is all one peice. A big no no!!!
The floor is comercial carpet with a layer of fake vinyl wood flooring. WHen I fisrt saw it I thought I dicovered a gem....but not!
HEre is a ceiling view in the old ISO room, now to be the CO.
You can see the drop ceiling in which I filled them with 5/8 gypsum and caulked. THis is the only way I could block flanking sound coming from the other rooms in the building. Above those drop ceiling frames is an open space that connects to the intire rest of the building.
You can see the air ducts that were waiting for me! 8)
The wall to the left I drywalled to the top so I have a compete seal.
THis is my boy playing drums. He is 16 months. He plays for hours and if you stop him he gets real mad!
I'll post more later.
Here I closed up the ceiling putting drywall in the drop ceiling frame and caulked. :D
Also insulated the outer wall.
I'll stuff some insulation around that duct. It's all I can do.
This should be enouf do stop flanking noise from the other rooms in the building. I hope! :?:
Everyone puts pic of their carpenters, so I might as well do the same. Thats Val. He is from Romania. We work well together.
So we now have a wood frame! Yahoo!
found oc 703 for $6.25 a sheet!
found a 10"X18" 1" thick peace of neprene for $20.
What's the neoprene for?
